OAO APF "Fanagoria" was founded in 1957 in the Sennoi settlement of Krasnodar Krai's Temryuk district. The company's
name originates from the ancient Greek city state Phanagoria, which was founded on this location in 542 BC.
Today, "Fanagoria" winery is one of the largest wine-making enterprises in Russia. It owns about 1,000 hectares of vinyards.
Thanks to the success of its Cabernet-Sauvignon and Merlot vineyards, the famous British author Hugh Johnson referred to "Fanagoria"
in his wine books as the "best Russian winery".
Since 2006, the winery has consulted with the internationally known winemaker, John Worontschak. Recently, the winery
has purchased 350 "Vicard" brand oak barrels for wine aging.
In the Spring of 2007, "Fanagoria" launched the vintage wines line "Cru Lermont", cellared and ages in 80-year old Caucasian
oak barrels. These wines won 3 Grand-prix and many other awards at various wine competitions.
